Film and broadcasting production

An independent Scotland could support increased TV and film production, claimed Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop in May 2014[1]. Scotland’s £440 million broadcasting industry was “lagging behind” other small countries. She claimed that Ireland employs more than 6,000 people in broadcasting compared with 3,200 in Scotland, with 2,000 people at national broadcaster RTE alone compared with 1,200 at BBC Scotland. [2]
