Border controls

In 2013, Scotland's Secretary of State Michael Moore claimed that Scotland’s border controls would become a “complete nightmare” after independence. The SNP’s plans for "friendlier" immigration policy, possibly leading to checks along the Border and even patrols of minor roads and farm tracks, contrasted with the stricter approach south of the Border. "We don’t want to turn that into some policed border. The Scottish Government say they don’t either, but they can’t answer how they would keep out of Schengen, have a different immigration policy and not have some form of border control" [1].
